Finally Friday.

Greetings to all. How was your week?

Mine sucked. You see, school just started and the week was pretty hectic, what with undone holiday assignments and getting back to the routine of waking up at 6am every weekday.

And I haven't started with how bad the weather is.

It has been very very hot.

So anyways, I was thinking. For everyone out there, you're most likely to spend your Friday nights partying after a hard week of school or work...or... staying at home and resting with a book and good music probably.

Yeah, you could probably watch movies or something. But ....whatever.

Here's some tunes to unwind to.

The Rakes - Work Work Work (Pub Club Sleep)

LCD Soundsystem - Daft Punk Is Playing At My House

The Slip -Children of December

Slow runner - Break Your Mama's Back

The Spinto Band - Oh Mandy

Syntax - Pride

Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin - Oregon Girl

South - Supercede

Stereophonics - Dakota

Goodbye for now.

Zee French!

(I typed 'french' into deviantart's search and I got french fries, french maid, and french kiss? Har har. I think I better stick to polaroids.)

The french always sounds sexy to me. As cliche as it is. And here are the songs y'all!

BB Brunes - Mr Hyde

Extremely good french rock.

Les Breatfeeders - Funny Funiculaire

And canadians! Singing french! Apparently from Montreal. Whoopee.

Prototypes - Danse Sur La Merde

Real frenchies doing rock and the occasional commercial songs. (Their songs were just used.)

Stereo Total - Touche Moi

French-German duo based in Berlin. Besides french, they sing in english, german, japanese, spanish, or turkish. Good luck in finding their turkish song, if what wiki says is true.

Call Me Poupee - Singapore Slang

This song. Don't ask. I have no effing idea either. *shrugs*

Eux Autres - Ecoutez Bien

French song by a US duo.

And apparently zee french are all pretty happy people, so no Emo Song of the Week today! How sad..?

I'll work hard on the damn-I-should-feature-a-band instead of doing the just-randomly-putting-together-songs-that-have-just-one-similarity thing too often. =)

Rooney.

Their second album Calling The World will be out in July.

Rooney released their debut album in 2002 when the median age of the band was 19 years old. I think they're really talented. First caught them on the first season of The OC (guilty pleasure) and I was happy I found another awesome band. They have even toured with the likes of 'The Strokes' & 'Travis' and have been compared to 'The Beatles' and 'Blur'.

Lead singer Robert Schwartzman wrote all of the songs on "Calling the World" after searching for a sound that would at once rock and "also make people dance."

He definitely accomplished that with the first single from Calling The World "Where Did Your Heart Go Missing" - an immensely catchy song with an infectious chorus. Let's hope the rest of the album acheives the same mood.

Where Did Your Heart Go Missing

& something from their debut album...

Sorry Sorry

And something else totally unrelated that i'm so hooked on.

Fujiya & Miyagi - Collarbone [Via I Am Fuel, You Are Friends]

The song above is highly recommended. 5 Stars.

the devil wears prada

I turned sixteen 13 days ago :)

So, my summer break has started. I rewatched the devil wears prada. I love that movie! The clothes are nice and so's the music. The only lousy thing about it was the blatant un-goodlookingness of two of the guys; Nate and Christian :( Even minor characters Tom Holt and Andrea's gay friend (not the runway one) looked nicer. Ah wellz.

City Of Blinding Lights by U2 is my first song. It's on when footage of a beautiful paris is shown. It's so exciting! Fast and slightly chafing.

Next is Sleep by Azure Ray, which is on one of the previous posts by sharon. I'll just reputup a link. Check it out. It's slightly depressing and very soft.

Then there's Tres Tres Chic by Mocean Worker. I really like this one, I've been listening to it on repeat all day! Sure, the whole song comprises of one stanza repeated over and over in almost exactly the same way to an exotic tune. It sounds like a soft version of something you'd hear in a club. but it is wonderful anyway.

And finally, Suddenly I see by KT Tunstall. This song isn't on the OST despite the fact that it was the background music of the start of the movie. It's bouncy, it's happy, it's PERFECT!

The other songs in the film are almost as good, but I preferred these most (and acquired them accordingly). So I shan't talk about them, since it's 257am and I should be sleeping now.

YEAH YEAH YEAHS!

Artwork for Is Is by Julian Gross from Liars.

I woke up today with the same mentality that I wouldn't find anything great on Hype.

But I was wrong.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs are releasing a new EP next month.

I am so happy. I can't describe my happiness right now. Having not heard anything worth going crazy over for a while, Is Is is mind blowing.

Tracklist.

1) Rockers To Swallow
2) Down Boy
3) Kiss Kiss
4) Isis
5) 10x10

I recommend ALL the songs.

Of which i've heard 4 of the tracks before and have got their live recordings. Which are bad quality. Then I found the studio recorded ones on hype.

I love hype.

Frontseat View.

Just watched the movie Four Eyed Monster on Youtube a few days ago. For some stupid reason I like it. And I'm not going to watch it again cus I don't want to ruin that feeling.

The entire movie's uploaded on Youtube, so go watch it. Maybe you think they're trying too hard to be artsy, or it's all too hyped up or... whatever. But I like it.

No, I didn't just mention a movie for no apparent reason.

There's the music, of course. And they are obscure, some of them. Took me a while to track them down. Here are some songs.

National Eye - Bird And Sword

Gingerbread Patriots - Wax Lips And Hummingbirds

The Spinto Band - Oh Mandy

Loveninjas - Keep Your Love

The rest you could check them out of the movie's actual website, foureyedmonsters, and look up their names on myspace.

Four glittering eyes, two pink mouths, and eight limbs wrapped around itself taking up two seats on the subway.

I will blog again soon! Promise.

I haven't been very happy.

Nor have I been sad...

And all you want to do is download the songs. (I hope)

For best effects on the mind, listen to tunes at night.

Everything Absent or Distorted - The Exit Parade

Bella - Go

Frausdots - Soft Light

Goldspot - Timebomb

Guther -Afraid

And it's back to more games of FreeCell and mildly depressing music.

3. You Got Yr Cherry Bomb
4. Don’t You Evah
5. Rhthm And Soul

8. My Little Japanese Cigarette Case
9. Finer Feelings

Spoon's sixth full-length studio album Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga is out July 10th on Merge.

Well, the album is great. However, I was kind of disappointed as I expected something more genius out of Britt Daniel. One thing about the album that I didn't quite like was the input of song "Ghost Of You Lingers". It definitely stands out among the other tracks, sounding completely different. Which is of course a bad thing because, in my opinion, an album has to sort of create a mood for the listener and the song is like a bump on the smooth road. But "Ghost Of You Lingers" on the other hand shows that Spoon is evolving and experimenting and not just creating the same shit over and over again.

So anyways, enjoy the tracks. Great album.

My Little Japanese Cigarette Case [This is so fucking good]

Ghost Of You Lingers

Don't you Evah

The Underdog

The Cure

Seriously? You don't know? Or do you?

The Cure doesn't need an introduction. They are legendary. Old band that formed in 1976.

"widely seen as one of the leading pioneers of the British alternative rock scene of the 1980s."
- Wikipedia.

The authors for this blog live in Singapore and The Cure are coming to perform in 2 months.

Hohoho. Get your tickets.
