The Analog Girl.

The Analog Girl performing at Paris.

(Is it weird to post consecutively for 2 days? But it's more great music for you right?)

I like The Analog Girl for 2 reasons. She is good. Armed with only her vocals and her laptop, this bedroom electronicist creates music that literally sends you on a trip. It's a concoction of distorted vocals and hypnotic beats, and she's one of those performers that you either like her, or you don't. I personally loved her the moment I hear a couple of her tracks being used in a indie short film I was watching (local production, intriguing, but I won't go on too much.)

Another reason's she's from singapore, which makes me happy..? I'm not entirely confident in singapore bands after seeing (and hearing) enough to stereotype them, so Analog Girl's definitely something different. She's been compared with the likes of Bjork and maybe the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but I'm not so sure about that. The Analog Girl's performed in both singapore and overseas, and had performed with Astreal, which is another great local band.

Listen to her when you're feeling down and gritty, or recovering from a big one. I listen to her as chill out music. Ha.

If you like their music, support them by purchasing their album, The TV Is On, through their website http://www.analog-girl.net/, or you could just buy the songs you like.

Monday Afternoons.

Missy Higgins performing.

I caught Missy Higgins' performing on recently, well quite recently. I was flipping through tv channels and watched Live Earth for a while. I wasn't planning to, because a 24 hour concert to me is suicidal to my sleep pattern. Anyways, Missy Higgins was performing and I was hooked. Mainly because I was trying to figure out her accent. And she's got good vocals and plays the piano. I watched till she's done performing and everything. Bloody hell, she's Australian! lol. And I think the term down under is just... overused.

I try to get myself to look up on her but I keep forgetting till now. Apparently she's been performing for like 3 years? And I guess she's pretty popular is Australia, with all the hit singles and stuff. I would say she's a pop-ish Regina Spektor armed with an acoustic guitar, but I really won't be trusting my own judgement anytime. Listen to her as a guilty pleasure. =)
